Every once in a while in the NFL, you get a game that becomes something astonishingly different from what anyone would have predicted. This game closed in Vegas with a 49.5 over/under and a lot of money on the over. Miami and the Rams are both among the worst 12 defenses in DVOA. And we got … kind of an ugly slugfest.
The Rams were the ones who came into this game off an overtime win over Seattle and a TNF win over the Vikings where their offense was firing on all cylinders. They activated Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson, two projected offensive line starters in the preseason who missed a lot of the year, from injured reserve before the game. And instead Miami’s much-maligned defense completely swallowed up the Rams offensive line.
