How did my preseason priors do?
A look at some things that made me look really good and also some things that made me look really stupid.
I have this weird bit I do where I try to be accountable for my thoughts and see what was a good thought and what was not when it is all over. Normally my thoughts are informed by the cold hard logic, of course, and I do get pushed or swayed in that direction when I look at the numbers. I thought the Colts would be a much better team than they actually were this year, for instance, before I had to write an entire FTN Almanac chapter on them and come to terms with the fact that the computer had a lot of reasons to doubt Anthony Richardson was for real. And I trusted those arguments, and I understood where they came from.
But there are always a few feelings about teams in my mind that, no matter how much data I process on the other side of the argument, I can’t let go of. This is the tale of eight of those I posted before the season and how they went. I call them my priors. Without further ado:
Decisive McCown Priors Wins
1) I don’t think the Jets will be good this year, and, in fact, think they will be about what they were last season even with Aaron Rodgers.
4) Deshaun Watson will not be a good quarterback. Again.
